Knife Straight Edge difference:
We offer Knife Straight Edges in various materials, lengths, and degrees of accuracy. These are further divided into TOP VERSION and WORKSHOP VERSION versions. One difference is the test edge up to 300 mm. The single-sided measuring tip is more pointed than specified in DIN 874 Sheet 2. The advantage here is that even the smallest corners and grooves can be checked (see drawing for the respective TOP-QUALITY hairline rule). Other differences include cross-section, greater lengths, and, in some cases, higher accuracies (please refer to the desired hairline rule for the exact data).Knife straight edge application:

Knife straight edges are subject to DIN 874 Sheet 2. Sometimes DIN 874/00 is also noted on these, which has been converted accordingly in line with the DIN formula for straightness tolerance. There is no DIN regulation stipulating that DIN 874/00 and/or DIN 874 must be marked on the hairline ruler. To give you an overview, the straightness tolerance is specified for each hairline ruler in our SMT-MESSZEUGE shop. Affordable hair rulers in accordance with DIN 874/0 in lengths of 600, 800, and 1000 mm are also available here in our SMT-MESSZEUGE SHOP. Another inexpensive option is the aluminum-magnesium hair rulers.Knife straight edge design/material:
We offer stainless steel hair rulers with the imprint “INOX”. Both inclined surfaces of the Inox hair ruler are anti-glare matt. The hair rulers made of normal steel have both inclined surfaces black burnished to achieve a higher contrast. Both versions are fully hardened, ground, and lapped. The back of the hair rulers is equipped with an insulated handle (heat protection handle) or a so-called handle shell over the entire length. Hair rulers made of aluminum-magnesium are also glare-free. However, a handle shell is only available on the 500 mm long version over the entire back of the hair ruler.Special knife straight edge (hair rulers:)
Among other things, we also have a set of hair rulers in our range, consisting of 6 hair rulers with lengths of 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, and 40 mm. These are equipped with an 80 mm long, knurled handle. Thanks to their small and varying widths, inspections in the smallest corners, grooves, blind holes, etc. are no problem. We are also happy to point out that we carry the frequently required lengths, 750 mm and 800 mm hairline rulers, as standard in our range. On request, we can also manufacture your stainless steel hairline ruler, or even in normal steel, in the special length you require!Knife straight edge packaging:
The hair ruler is packaged in a synthetic leather case/bag. Upon request, our TOP VERSION is also available in a wooden case for an additional charge. The 2000 mm hair ruler comes standard in both INOX and normal steel, each in a wooden case. Our 6-piece hairline ruler set with SMT-MESSZEUGE item no. 545.000 is delivered in a plastic case. The aluminum-magnesium hairline rulers are stored in a transport container.
